Standen also won a county championship medal with Worcs

Re: 50 greatest hammers
If you check out the official site Texas, you will see Peters is in the top ten.

One player unlucky surely not to be in the fifty must be Jim Standen who was in the 1964 and 1965 triumphant cup teams.

Re: 50 greatest hammers
Macca got in my top ten....but had i been older and seen him.play then Moore would have been. My mum was in a laundry down Green Street back in the 60's when Moore and Hurst walked in. The person behind the counter went to serve them first and she said I dont think.so.I was here first. To which Moore and Hurst agreed and told the person behind the counter to serve my mum. She always was feisty. God rest her soul
So sad footbsllers just arent part of our communties like that anymore.

Darlo

Agree they do but not in a top 10 all time hammers. If it was my favourites then Macca would be up in the top 5 ar least, absolutely loved him and still do!

Re: 50 greatest hammers
I dont see why Tevez, Macca and Payet shouldnt be counted just because they didnt stay long
I think.the nature of Payets departure would count him.out for me, but Tevez and Macca clearly loved playing for us, and to me are Hammers in spirit
Didnt Tevez sort of apologise for scoring against us when he was at City?
They gave us really good memories and deserve their place i think.

Re: 50 greatest hammers
Reknapp often gets bad press but the last period that I actually remember enjoying life as a Hammer, even though we didn't really win much except for the inter toto cup and our highest premier league finish, was under Harry Redknapp. It wasn't perfect but it was fun.

Re: 50 greatest hammers
Can someone explain the rationale for this ?, have people been voting ?

It's obviously going to be Bobby Moore, Martin Peters, Geoff Hurst, Billy Bonds, Trevor Brooking & Alan Devonshire in the top 6

Re: 50 greatest hammers
That's a decent list. We can all quibble about the placing and some of the inclusions, but at least they've made an effort to be representative of all eras of the club. They've also, probably rightly, included a couple that were significant from a somewhat subjective view, in Clyde Best and Alan Sealey..

My only real gripe is the inclusion of that useless cunt Pat Holland...
